Evolution is a card-driven strategy game for 2-6 players in which everyone is simultaneously building and adapting their own species in a shared, ever-shifting ecosystem. Each round, players use Trait cards to modify their creatures - boosting population, increasing body size, or layering on defensive and offensive abilities. With over 4,000 possible trait combinations, no two species ever look quite the same, and the ecosystem at your table takes on a life of its own depending on the strategies everyone pursues.

The central tension is the food supply. There’s never quite enough to go around, and the pressure only mounts as players evolve Carnivores that prey on rival species rather than competing for the watering hole. Defensive traits like Hard Shell and Horns can hold them at bay, while Long Neck lets a species reach food others simply can’t. The result is a constantly adapting arms race where a strategy that thrives in one game can collapse entirely in the next.

Evolution is one of those rare games where the players shape the experience as much as the cards do. A table full of aggressive Carnivore builders plays out very differently from one where everyone turtles up and competes quietly for food. Both approaches are valid, and finding the right adaptation to match the ecosystem around you is exactly where the game’s satisfaction lies.
